Nourishing Recovery is designed for individuals in recovery, recovery coaches, peer support workers and anyone interested in understanding the role of nutrition in recovery. This workshop aims to provide participants with a foundational understanding of nutrition and practical strategies to support individuals in their recovery journey. Emphasizing the importance of nutrition in both physical and mental recovery, the course covers key nutrients, the role of a balanced diet, and affordable, sustainable food options.
Eating a healthy diet is crucial for maintaining health and well-being, especially for those in addiction recovery. Drugs and alcohol inhibit the body’s ability to absorb nutrients and expel toxins, leading to numerous health problems. Gastrointestinal issues, including diarrhea, constipation, and improper digestion, are common among individuals who struggle with substance use. Individuals in recovery need high-nutrient rich foods to help rebuild damaged tissues and restore proper function to the gastrointestinal system and other body systems.
