This workshop draws inspiration from traditional storytelling practices found in Indigenous cultures worldwide. Historically, storytellers have been revered as griots, cultural guardians, and keepers of the flame, weaving narratives that connect the past, present, and future, shaping communal identities.
In the recovery community, each individual possesses a unique story—a narrative of resilience, struggle, and hope—that reflects their journey from substance use to recovery. This experience offers an opportunity to explore indigenous cultural wisdom and storytelling techniques, integrating them into the modern context of recovery coaching and peer support. Participants learn how storytelling can be a tool for healing, fostering connection, understanding, and resilience within the community. Through this workshop, individuals cultivate the art of crafting and sharing stories that serve the greater good, nurturing a sense of connection and empowerment among participants.
