This healing circle is an intentional and transformative space created for individuals who identify as Black, Indigenous, or of African descent. Guided by the Sankofa philosophy of Ubuntu, which emphasizes interconnectedness, collective well-being, and mutual support, this circle is designed to ensure that every attendee is seen, heard, and valued. It integrates culturally responsive, holistic, and evidence-based practices to support participants on their journey toward mental wellness and recovery.
Each session is thoughtfully designed to:
- Incorporate Indigenous and Spiritual Practices: Engage in traditional practices such as mindfulness, storytelling, music, and rituals that honor indigenous wisdom.
- Provide Education and Practical Tools: Learn evidence-based strategies to support recovery, reduce stress, and build resilience.
- Engage in Reflective Practices: Participate in activities like journaling, mindfulness, meditation, storytelling, and spoken word.
- Honor Spirituality and Culture: Recognize and celebrate the spiritual and cultural dimensions of mental wellness.
